Star Wars wouldn't be Star Wars without the talents of the folks over at Industrial Light and Magic and the numerous detailed, awesome looking ships and vehicles they created for the Star Wars universe. Founded by George Lucas in 1975, the visual effects company was established when production on Star Wars began. Leading members of the ILM team included John Dykstra, Ken Ralston, Paul Huston, and other interns, artists, and designers. Their talents brought to life the many Star Wars ships and vehicles seen in the classic movies.
Lucas's goal for Star Wars was to create visual effects that audiences had never seen before. Industrial Light & Magic delivered that and more, creating some of the most recognizable fleets of vehicles and spacecrafts ever conceived for film. Over the course of six films, the number of Star Wars ship names devised for the vehicles and vessels of the films have grown so considerably, it takes several Wikipedia pages to list them all.
